Local residents bust prostitution racket in Delhi

NEW DELHI - Over 100 residents of Mahipalpur area near Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport Thursday tried to barge into a guest house after the policefailed to act on their complaints about a prostitution racket being run from it.

Police, called to the spot after commotion, arrested four women, including two Russians, on prostitution charges.

The people, all residents of Mahipalpur area, gathered in front of the 365 Inn guest house to protest the sex racket and some of them scuffled with the staff of the guest house and pimps.

At this, the women and the staff inside the premises locked themselves in. One of the protesters, Satbir Singh, then called the police.

The police arrested three women while one jumped off the building while trying to escape. “She injured her leg and was arrested,” said a police officer.

The police took all the four women - two Russians and two Indians - to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where the injured Indian woman managed to give the escorting policemen the slip.

The other three were arrested and a case of immoral trafficking registered against all the four women.

One of the local residents said they had already informed the police of the racket but no action was taken.

“We had to take the matters in our hands as police were not taking any action. Such things leave bad impression on our children and society,” the resident said.

Do you think Nokia ? Nokia Maps triggers protests

JABALPUR: Sores of activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) rampaged a Nokia showroom for showing Kashmir as part of Pakistan's territory in its mobile navigation system.

They barged into a Nokia showroom and snatched mobile phones and burnt them. Besides, they also set hoardings on fire outside the showroom. Dozens of policemen were present when the attack took place.

A BJP leader and a deputy in the state assembly demanded legal action against Nokia.

"Nokia has introduced a software. When we heard about it, then the members of the BJYM protested in front of the Nokia showroom. This is a case of anti-nationalism. We demanded that the Nokia and other people involved in the conspiracy be booked for spreading anti-national activities. We will intensify the protest if this case has not been registered," said Sharad Jain, the BJP legislator.

Nokia's mobile mapping and navigation service, Nokia Maps, allows people to pre-plan their journey at home on their PC and synchronise with their mobile, giving access to pre-planned routes and favourite destinations while on the move.

It also includes high-resolution aerial images and 3D landmarks for 216 cities and terrain maps.

"This software is developed by Nokia. This is the problem of Nokia and we are not concerned with it as we are merely shop owners, not the client of the company. But, the manner in which the mob entered and started torching the shop is bad," said Rafiq Khan, the Nokia showroom owner.

Shazahn Padamsee Launch with Yash Raj Films

Take for instance, Shazahn Padamsee, who turned down a full-fledged role with a successful banner, only to debut with Yash Raj Films, albeit in a small role. Well, not every actress out there gets a ‘rocket’ launch like this one, right? Of course, the other reason is that she wanted to star with hottie, Ranbir Kapoor in Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year, in an important but small role. It’s not the size that always matters, no? Besides, ask any of our B-town biggies, there is no short-cut to stardom. It’s not ‘Rocket’- science either, really. So good going gal!

Talk about making it ‘big’ in B’wood, every newcomer wants to make a grand entry.
